Just lay the new covering on top ensuring the existing floor is protected!
You are laying a new floor covering, but you must not damage the existing floor because the landlord insists that the flooring must be protected. You need to lay a floor covering with considerable tension so that it can be removed, but you cannot use any fixing products or adhesive tapes. We have the solution! With the THOMSIT renovation system, you can prepare a new substrate for laying a floor covering on the existing floor, without any damage to the existing floor.
Subsstrate preparation
- The substrate must be level and dry
- No further substrate preparation is required
1. Lay THOMSIT TDB 100 Waterproofing membrane on the clean substrate. Then force any air out from under the waterproofing membrane using a horsehair broom. Maintain a spacing of about 5 mm from the walls and any other building elements.
2. Apply THOMSIT DT 400 Adhesive tape to the long side of the waterproofing membrane with a width of 45 mm. Install further strips of waterproofing membrane with an overlap and press them carefully into place from the center, working outwards, with a plastic board, avoiding creases and air bubbles
3. Apply THOMSIT DT 400 Double-sided adhesive tape to one side of THOMSIT TDB 12 Waterproofing tape and then bond it into place on the substrate and the lower edge of the walls on all sides.
4. Apply THOMSIT AS 2 Fiber-anhydrite leveling compound directly to the THOMSIT TDB 100 Waterproofing membrane and carefully distribute it over the waterproofing membrane in a layer of at least 4 mm using a pin leveler, without applying any pressure.
