Question: What, as a rule, prevents the transformation of a bone hard wooden deal floor into a comfortable, foot- friendly surface? Answer: hard, bulky and difficult to work chipboard, which you just have to accept as necessary for such a footfall damping job. High labor and financial costs are unavoidable. And what if tall furniture, low door and room clearances, room to room passage do not permit an increase in floor height of more than 8 mm?
If this is the case, there is a practical alternative at hand: the Thomsit-Floor® Sound Damping System with elastically stable damping layer. With a build-up height to carpet of only 8 mm, it is a practical solution, easy to work and manoeuver in the most confined spaces.
Substrate preparation
Check for back-ventilation with old wood deal floors, and ensure air circulation around floor borders, firmly screw down the boards, fill joints with acrylate sealant, clean and prime with Thomsit R 766 Multi-Purpose Primer as a bonding bridge for the levelling layer. Apply Thomsit FA 97 Fibre- Reinforced Levelling Compound to a minimum thickness of 3 mm.
Footfall Damping
Bond Thomsit-Floor® TF 305 5 mm Underlay with Thomsit T 440 Carpet Adhesive to the prepared substrate.
Bonding coverings
Likewise, use Thomsit T 440 to bond textile floor coverings toThomsit-Floor® TF 305.
